I've just read this elsewhere. Shameful.

If you have not applied for/received your 'carte de sejour' then surely it will - eventually. I have been asked for it by French border controllers coming back into France and also once exiting the country!

I now ALWAYS give the card first then the passport. I had to move quickly to stop a border officer stamping my passport when I handed over my passport first and then the card!

The CdS trumps, unfortunate word, the stamp. On our most recent return from Morocco the border agent stamped my wife's passport and when she asked why he had done it he looked at her CdS then at her passport and back to the card, then put a couple of lines through the stamp, wrote erreur and then signed and just for good measure, initialled the same. Just to add; I have held a French passport since '18 and that has two inward stamps from previous trips.

Why worry about a stamp in a passport ? If you are legal , it makes no difference.

Why worry about a stamp in a passport ? If you are legal , it makes no difference. Yes I have forgotten in the past to show my TDS probably as my Wife is now Irish due to Brexit (through her Father) and the douanes look at her passport then mine and occasionally I have had the stamp but as stated it means little tbh.
1) I am with a person (my wife) who holds an EU passport i.e Irish. 2) I have a ten year Titre de Sejour
So no matter how many stamps in my passport I am still a legal resident of France and can return to France from wherever. And on another matter I can travel all over the EU for as long as my wife is with me and here in France, well after 30 years I think I'll stick around a bit longer yet.
