We viewed this on the way to a Christmas market in Aubusson today. The owner passed away and its for sale via the tax office. It comes with a nice bit of land but the land at the side and behind the house does not come with the house some brit who owns next door bought it for buttons yesterday so no one will pay much for the house. The bathroom. Lounge The house

That is a sad way to live a life even if you are the proud owner of a large house and land. I don’t like the outside of the house even if the inside could be easily transformed into decent accommodation.

I first viewed the exterior about six months ago I quite liked the outside finish, I think its just sand and cement. It is an old stone building so could be removed. Your seeing the best rooms, I will delete some older pictures and post the others. He lived in squalor no bath or shower just a kitchen sink.

Why would that Brit have bought the land? Doesn't sound very attractive if the house is close.

Both of my purchases here in France were worse than that when I bought them. I bought the first one because it was stupidly cheap (at a time when I had very little money). The second for much the same reason except it cost almost four times as much.

Otherwise known as the commodification of space. Look at Slough or Maidenhead.

No, not trashed, just a normal student’s bedroom before Mum gets involved.

Aren't you a Brit? I'm the bar steward Brit who owns the house next door. The house I bought had several owners who owned other parcels of land. When I found out next door was coming up for sale I bought the land next door. The agent who is selling the house for the tax office can either sell it to me or I have offered the land to a new buyer if he finds one. I have to put an offer in writing and if it's above his estimation I get the house. It's not much use to anyone without the land. My notaire had been in contact with the tax office earlier this year so I knew it was coming up for sale.

I am not sure bar steward applies - astute businessman perhaps. Clever move.
Happy Christmas to you both.
