Almost one in ten wash the bath towel twice a year, Just as well it was a UK survey if it was in France most would ask whats a bath My general rule is if it does not smell fresh it heads to the washing machine at a guess a week to ten days and its time for a change. Through a survey of 2,200 UK residents, our research found that 3% of respondents wash their bathroom towels once a year, equating to 1,595,646 people based on the latest adult population estimates from the Office of National Statistics.
Men were five times more likely to clean their bathroom towels just once a year, with 5% of male respondents admitting to giving them an annual wash, compared to 1% of women.
Almost one in 10 respondents (8%) stated they will only wash their bathroom towels twice a year, indicating over 1.5 million people across the country give their towels a clean every six months, while a third of respondents (33%) will only wash their bathroom towels once every three months at the most

Oh yuk to those results!
Our towels are washed once each week, apart from the kitchen towels plus tea towels, which are changed 2/3 times each week.

Bathroom towels big and small are changed weekly or occasionally more often if needed. Tea towels are changed several times per week

My wife insists on washing all towels once a week as a minimum. We get through tea towels at a rate of two every two days. I would probably be less hygienic if left on my own but I do understand the reasons. It is difficult to accept those reported figures.

Through a survey of 2,200 UK residents Mmmm ... a specially chosen group. Who only bathed once a year maybe? It is difficult to accept those reported figures. Yes, it is. I'd like to know the source!

I met a lady whose granny used to live at one of our old places that used to be a farm. She told us that her granny only washed her and her sons clothes once or twice a year when the stream that runs through the property a few hundred meters from the house was flowing. I don’t know when the well was dug, water fron the source, a hundred meters away from it was probably too valuable to use for washing.
