I would say the OP's question was pretty clear in layman's terms, he assumes he has a live supply to his sockets after using a neon tester, but somewhere along the line the neutral has been dislodged, as said possibly best to start off in the board Nothing is mentioned about a neon tester. The fault description and brief analysis is insufficient to assess the possible reasons for the observed faulty socket power. Even the terminology is suspect. The advice to start at the consumer unit should be followed in a logical fashion. Let’s wait for the follow up and then we will all benefit from another piece of good experience learnt from sensible fault finding.
