South Africa is (or has become) a dangerous place to live, maybe less so in the Cape area. I lived near Joburg for 18 months in 2009/2010. Just a few snippets of what occurred...
-My secretary's brother, a police officer, was murdered in his home during a robbery. -One of my engineers' wife was attacked near her house after withdrawing some money from her bank. The cashiers had informed some friends of the withdrawal and her address. She was attacked outside her house at gunpoint. -One of my construction managers was held up at gunpoint outside her house. She was driven in her 4*4 to a remote spot, raped, and left for dead. She survived but now has aids! -4 of the 7 houses in my compound were burgled (not mine) during daytime. My house keeper was questioned extensively by police but no charge or proof altho she did have keys to compound and my house. -attempted burglary at 2 am in my house - the armed security guards arrived quickly but burglars were gone empty handed. -murder victim found on one of my sites not connected to my project.
I was happy to get out of there...

I have. A few old acquaintances that live their. The above goes a long way to explain their views on race.
I have discovered that one of them has German ancestry and wonder if genetics cmould have any bearing on their values.
seems that it spread to Pistorius.
