Really like this winter salad and am thinking of growing some for next winter after discovering some different, delicious and attractive varieties in Grand Frais. The main one I want to try is CastelFranco which is an Italian variety and is cream with beautiful orangey red splodges on the leaves. The other one is Rosa.
Anyone had experience of growing these in France?

Never grown an endive J but I just scoffed two wrapped in jambon with a cheese sauce. Flipping delicious.

Yes ,we always grew endive, then replanted in buckets inside for Winter salade, easy to grow, but needs to be kept mouse proof.

I've grown them from kits bought in Leclerc You get a deep wooden crate, compost and roots. Pack the roots vertically in the compost, keep very slightly damp in a cool, dark place and you get loads of chicons that all come at once. (A bit like mushroom kits). I did buy some seed to try to do it properly, but haven't got round to sowing them yet.
