EVs and their ecological footprints, another thing to bear in mind, fifty ways to leave your battery, this is one of them: En Aveyron, un incendie dans un entrepÎt de stockage détruit 900 tonnes de batteries au lithium.

I'd love a little electric car. We have been on the look out for a small vehicle to do the local run around journeys. At the moment they would not be viable for us for longer trips, but a little one would be great. Neil reckons that aside from the battery there isn't that much to go wrong or that much that is difficult to repair. Problem is you need to be an electrician not a mechanic to do the repairs and most of the current mechanics would need to be retrained. We have been looking at the possibility of converting a diesel buggy body to run with a small electric motor to use to ferry stuff around for the horses. Well, I should say Neil has been looking to do it..not me.. I don't understand these things.

Love it but .. Crikey ÂŁ30 000 for an 'on the road drive away' model with the company doing the transformation.

Err, what is a 'turbo' EV?
The 15k miles that car has run equates to $6/mile!

Just to add to the âpotential trapsâ with EVs. The Netherlands are planning to shut down car chargers from 1600h to 2100h due to overload on the network. I suppose thatâs OK when you have your own solar panel charger, at least, until home grown power is taxed..

The grid in the Netherlands is almost at its maximum, new residential projects finished, almost turn-key. One problem: no electricity. Back to your parents you go, or a camping site, if you already sold your old house to be able to finance the new one. " Public charging stations for electric cars should be switched off between four in the afternoon and nine in the evening, says regional grid operator Stedin. According to Stedin, it is necessary because at these hours "the grid is bursting at the seams." And now to the link.

A mere ÂŁ16,000 to convert a suitable vehicle.

Back to your parents you go, or a camping site, if you already sold your old house to be able to finance the new one. That thought crossed my mind when Starmer said that he would ensure that many more houses were built every year than was the case at present .. all well and good but where does the electricity come from for these new homes. The UK, like France, already struggles with demand on very cold winter days .. and people don't want extra pylons marching across the countryside. So do they make the homes off-grid for electricity .. a case of make-your-own on site ?
