She will get no calender money this year.  I have been asked to attend a meeting not at the Gendarmerie but the town hall, the gendarme want a chat. Had a note in the letter box yesterday. |

What have you done to upset the system or is it that a property you are after is wanted by the mayor/ gendarme/ postie?

Ah .. you've hit the French anomaly .. you are considered old at 60 i.e. reduction in the price of a a cinema ticket .. but not old enough to receive your French pension. Thé 'oldies' have to be protected from the nasty people out there who might attempt to take advantage of them/you.

You should be damned grateful that they are thinking about you in your dotage I think its getting bad everywhere these days, the other villages around here have something similar to the neighbour hood watch. But like most other parts of France no Gendarme around after 7pm. We did get burgled here about 12 years ago but were in at the time so lost nothing. |

I was even offered a reminder because I had not replied/attended the meeting. I told 'them' to do one, being that I did not consider myself old enough for their help, I still don't. Sometime last year the OH opened the door to a couple of rozzers who wished to inquire as to if I still did not require their assistance, when called to the door, they took one look at me and agreed, I did not yet need help. That being said, this year I do qualify for the Christmas hamper, or woe betide, the meal with the other crusties. |

mysty, why not just embrace your age, admit the creaks an groans of your aged body and the wandering of your mind. Old age can be liberating, you know.

Thanks for your wise words wooly but I don't feel old yet and still quite agile but more conscious of my position on scaffold or ladders.😀
