More people are using there phone to pay in shops these days, im not ready for that one yet. We were out the other day and I let my OH go into the service station to get a coffee she swiped the machine twice and got nothing so being a man with more exsperiance I used my card and got the coffee. Two days later she checked at the bank and she still got charged for two coffees but got nothing. Not sure how you would try and claim for a refund but its the way the world is going. The other option you have to look out for is if the machine says do you want to use your own cup, other than a truck driver I do not normally walk about with a cup on the autoroute. |

Many businesses in the UK are now 'card only', it's brilliant in a busy pub and speeds up service but I get that some people still would prefer the choice.

Many businesses in the UK are now 'card only', it's brilliant in a busy pub and speeds up service but I get that some people still would prefer the choice. The only reason to be card only is because its cheaper for the company, the transaction ,even if the card is stolen, is paid. The cost of paying a security company or having to take the cash to the bank(if there is a branch available near you)is negated. You might think its "convinient" and quicker to pay by card but staff reduction is the result and the service is slower. |

Over 1 million people in the UK don't have a bank account and thus automatically excluded by such businesses. And then there are those who have a bank account but don't have a smart phone. On the subject of money, why oh why can't you get cashback in French supermarkets? |

And I recall a few years back a subsidiary of Barclays based in Panama was found to be involved with money laundering for drug barons. They had to pay a considerable amount in fines for doing so. Of course it wasn't reported by the MSN.
