Is it possible for a non EU citizen to stay in the EU legally for up to 17 months with no savings, no visa, no nothing, legally. Edit. if we do not get three attempts you do not get the answer.

If you come into the EU as cabin crew on a private boat not registered in the EU you can stay for 17 months with no carte séjour. If you stay for 18 months you have to pay TVA on the boat.

Presumably you still have to register your presence somewhere and how long do you have to leave for after 17 months to be able to come back and start over?

I cannot answer all of that but all you have to do is live on the boat you can still come off the boat. Im sure on the boat forums on Spain they will be talking about it. We follow a few American and Brits who come into Europe on there boats.

I arrived here on my boat and lived aboard for quite a while without giving it a thought. I guess we were in the EU then (?) so there was literally no paperwork on arrival.
