I was going to look last night but was too tired.
Tonight I will attempt to see some.
Did you see some Mrs A?

Unfortunately Selby is too well lit up at night to see anything in the sky.

That's one of the problems with city living, too much light pollution.

This thread is the first I've heard about it. Historically one of two things happen. Either I hear about it after it has happened and people on a forum are saying how wonderful it was, or I hear about it before it happens but the sky, as usual for Brittany, is completely clouded over. Since we have reasonably clear skies at the moment it would be nice to have a look tonight just in case, but in which direction? Maybe Google knows. I've never seen a comet or an eclipse so a meteor shower would be kinda nice.

Three hours I spent out there last night for nothing but a crick in my neck and a few dozen lousy shooting stars.

Outside for 15 minutes at 01:30 and saw two - gave up after that but the night sky was remarkable and I did manage to see Jupiter and Saturn and venus very well from the loft window afterwards with the help of the link below so I knew in which direction to look (and my binoculars!) space.blog.gov.uk/2021/08/03/the-night-sky-in-august/We've had a telescope for years that got packed away when we came over here and it's not seen the light of day or night since so I really must dig it out and set it up. I read the link and there was no mention of which way to look. It mentioned "horizon" but that doesn't narrow it down much.

Non sleeping week now so at 2 in the morning and hey presto! Nothing. Very cloudy. Aardvark, I suggest you get an astronomy book. Plenty of meteor showers every year. And you never know, maybe a comet. Seen plenty over the years. Beautiful sights. It’s a fascinating subject.

I was out at 12:30, bit of cloud with clear patches and looked up to see a cracking shooting star complete with its bright tail. hung about for 15 mins more but nothing. Still a great siting.💫
