Not for me but from a recent look through ads for property for sale, almost every resturaunt or hotel in Aubusson is for sale. Most people do not have the money to spend on eating out often. Our new commune where we are moving too has spent 250.000 in buying and renovating a resturaunt and have so far failed to find someone to rent it.

"The French have long enjoyed a reputation for effortlessly staying slim while enjoying fine food and wine........"
I would say that was much easier because most of them smoked like chimneys. Now they are giving up smoking and replacing the fags with cheap American junk food. The pattern has long been established in UK, now France follows.

Story published at 12:01am on April 1st. Reach your own conclusions. I can't vouch for the overall veracity of the tone of the article, but I can absolutely vouch for the existence of The Grand Buffet at Narbonne, I've eaten there, twice. And you really can eat as much as you like. It has allegedly the biggest cheese counter in the world. I might be making a third visit later this year.

Les Grand Buffet is somewhat of a shlep for us, but we are making our fourth visit this month and yet again in mid May. It really is a place to behold and wine at producer prices. Top tip, do not start on the entrées too early, the good stuff is at the end of the row and queue less foreboding. Book now for this autumn.
