For the second day running I am unable to log in to the site. I doubt that I have been banned for saying something offensive but who knows, it wouldn't be the first time I have been banned from a site without warning, reason, or further discussion. I am using the Brave browser on a Windows 7 desktop computer. I am not having this problem with any other site. When I push the "log in" button on the ProBoards page the whole thing shuts down the browser. When I reopen the browser I am offered the option to restore the failed page. When I click that it shuts down the browser again. I have tried Firefox browser and there is no problem with The other French forum so it appears there is a fault with Brave browser's interaction.
If there is some other way to report this, I have been unable to find it.

No .. you haven't been banned - I agree it looks like your Brave Browser doesn't like the site. I use a Win7 machine mostly on here so it's not that.
I'll notify your problem to Johnny and Crabtree, who are much more savvy with ProBoards machinations than me. We'll get back to you.
NB: I have a problem with one site I use occasionally as Firefox doesn't like it.

I'm a long time user of Brave, virtually since it's first appearance in fact, and have no problems either with W7 or W10. EDIT: I based the above on using Brave on a laptop running W7 Home Premium however having just fired up the PC also with Home Premium and there I'm experiencing the same Aardvark. The difference is the version of Brave, the laptop has 1.33.106 Chromium 960.4664.110 and says it's up to date. The PC has 1.47.186 Chromium 109.0.5414.119 and there says for further updates W10 is required. Sounds like you may have to revert to an earlier version, you can find them here github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases?page=1Find one which works the incrementally update until it breaks!

So were you logging on via Brave until 2 days ago? JD

Sometimes computers just have a bad day and have a glitch, it was not that long ago I could not login here for a couple of hours others had the same problem but people were still posting.

If I remember correctly then Aardvark uses a pc .. so, as you say ANO, it might well be his version of Brave that is no longer playing ball.

Hi guys, I'm back. I will try to answer with reference you your helpful replies all in one post. Yes JohnnyDI know about Microsoft ending "support" of W7. I am one of many millions of users who have stopped playing Microsoft's upgrade game. I get functional and security updates via a tech site once a month to keep W7 going and it works well for my purposes since the 2020 shutdown. I used to use Chrome a lot but they pulled the plug on W7 some time ago and started with annoying popups (like MS did) trying to bully me into complying with their agenda. I then switched to Brave being enticed by their promises of increased privacy features. Eventually Brave started with similar popups but I found a way to kill them off permanently. Up until the weekend Brave would log into this site without issue. Since I can still log in with different browsers I can only assume Brave has changed. I will try another's suggestion of going back to a previous version of Brave. I have four browsers installed so I have backup in place if my current favourite throws a wobbly.
additional: I tried JohnnyD's log in to Proboard link and my login doesn't work. It says my password is not recognised so wants to give me another but I don't receive it. Not to worry. I will just carry on with Firefox when I want to post here.

No mention yet of VPNs, is a VPN involved here?

Nope. Can't afford one.
plus: I have tried installing earlier versions of Brave and I immediately get the message "update not available". I'm not trying to update but a fresh download of an earlier version. I have a feeling if I completely uninstall Brave before trying another one it will detect that I am a pigheaded rebel that won't give up my death grip on Windows 7 and refuse all attempts at any installation.
