Last November we left our secondaire with both UK and French satellite TV systems working. Returning in April this year I find that several Fransat channels are not present and I have not found any sensible reasons given on the Internet. I hope someone on the forum can offer a solution.
It seems that several transponder signals are at zero while others are looking healthy. I have carried out the usual retuning procedure with no success. My next step is to realign the dish just in case a subtle change can put things right. Before climbing the ladder I was hoping that there is another technical trick that I could try. It is all very odd. Please help if you can. Thank you.

I have visited the Fransat website just in case there was an announcement about the transponders but there was no indication of a problem. It is almost certainly a dish misalignment problem. Though it is odd that a few transponders are being detected at a good level and others are not. It could be a faulty LNB but even this is not a logical conclusion. The wind is a bit strong still today and this job can wait till a calmer period and I will try to sort it out from the top of my ladder.

Not Fransat, but alignment can be critical. Our dish alignment is slightly off. I know this because although most channels come through fine, we cannot get some channels we should be able to. Because these are channels we would not normally seek out I have left things as they are. However we have a third tranche of channels that we can get in winter but not in summer.
Go figure that one.

It is almost certainly a dish misalignment problem. After your reply I had another look at a different Fransat site and it said that accurate alignment was crucial, especially since the change in satellite in 2020. So, it would seem your dish might be slightly off alignment - as exile has found. We had some ferocious winds during last winter - tho not the worst we have ever had - this time we found the gusts were particularly strong. Perhaps they were in your area too.

If all else fails trim back the top of your trees and branches that is what usually stops our signal assuming you have trees.

I am fortunate to be able to “see” the satellite from the top of our high roofed workshop at the back of the house. We are indeed limited by tall trees but in this case there is unrestricted view of the satellite. Today is rather cold and still windy so the realignment must wait. I will report back as soon as the job is complete and maybe all channels restored, I hope. I believe that our area was also affected by extremely high winds and gusts so it is likely that they have moved the dish. I had thought that if one transponder was being received then the others would also be alright. Perhaps the satellite is in fact a tight cluster and the dish must be aligned with the centre of the group. I have never noticed this effect before. Just lucky I think.
