I thought at the time we were there (making our contribution to the state of affairs last year) that the local authorities, or whoever,
we’re going a bit overboard on the development or distraction of the areas of. Undeveloped land in the veracity of the town with
regards to the supposed ‘gains’ to made versus the long term pay off for society at large
I note that the NIMBYs are not amused.
‘ The St Augustine Planning & Zoning Board (PZB) approved three times the allowed coverage of land for the project called Sebastian Inland Harbor, located between the winery and the distillery. The construction would include 167 hotel rooms, a condo with 165 units, a parking garage for over 600 cars, and over 4000 cars per day of increased traffic, a number stated by the developer. The plan will increase flooding on King Street as well as jamming already congested King Street. It will cause pollution in the San Sebastian River, and a slow death to the existing marine life there.
This petition requests that any future development that contributes to increased traffic and flooding, air and water pollution in the city be rejected.
We urge the St. Augustine Commissioners and the Water Management District to consider the well-being of the citizens and travelers to St. Augustine, and scale back this project significantly.’
