Thank you for that link.
I had already put my NHS QR code into the French Pass Sanitaire wallet on my phone so tried to follow the link.
This has ended up with my QR code in the app drawer taking 4 x 3 normal spaces! In the 'widgets' I note that they all have figures below like 1x1 - 4x3 - 5x2 - 5x4 etc. A light tap on QR icon gets a 'not enough space' bar and a steady press gets the oversized icon. Several attempts gets same result. All a bit beyond my IT skills!

I've worked out what's happening. The large QR is intended to be always on the home screen for quick access. However, it's a bit ott for me so I will continue to find the French Pass Sanitaire icon in the apps when needed.

You have hit it with 'quick'. This widget is great if you use fingerprint id on the phone - one touch and it is open to show. If you use a pin to access the phone, as you say, just as easy to leave it in the covid app.
