Nothing new there then in 1956 my Da d was in the RAF stationed at RAF Idris near Tripoli Libya during the Suez Crisis We had service housing about 20 miles from the camp There were Americans on the same complex One morning we woke up and found the American families had been evacuated under cover of darkness the previous night The British families were taken out by a bus a few days later in daylight My mother went to the local women she had made friends with and said to go in and get the meal that she had been cooking instead of it going to waste We were evacuated to the UK When we returned a few weeks later the US houses had been wrecked The RAF houses were intact and even the flowers had been watered

So the Dark ages return to Afghanistan. What a tragedy.... Yes indeed 🤨 I feel sorry for all the mothers, wives, sisters, sons, daughters and family who lost a soldier during the conflict, what a waste of time and lives.
