Mr MOTM checked in this morning at Dieppe. I had used the QR scanner to add his negative test certificate to the tous covid app. It showed clearly a negative result. I hadn't been able to print off the certificate.
Anyway at Dieppe they didn't have the scanning machine at check in. So OH showed them his phone but they said it wasn't detailed enough to show what lab had provided the result.
Eventually they let him through and at the next booth there was a scanner.
How stupid and confusing.

We have been to a couple of restaurants here in Brittany since you had to show that we had are two NHS jabs on the French App, very smooth and simple as we had prepared and could see the QR code ourselves on the French App, not so smooth for other tourists from varying countries trying to use their own countries apps, printed our certificates. A little bit more f forward planning would help. The poor restaurant staff need the customers but have to scan the QR code on the French App and they need customers!
Ordered our day two (when home) Pcr tests today £48 x 3, so they are coming down in price. There are cheaper but with poor reviews.

Mr MOTM checked in this morning at Dieppe. That reminded me of what happened to me, I travelled from Dieppe at the end of July, the person checking the paperwork wanted to see the actual Lab result rather than the EU test certificate, fortunately I had printed all the pages so there was no issue, but if I had only printed one page I would have gone for the EU certificate.

My wife has been checking the money saving expert advice but since you posted the problems with your day 2 and 8 tests, I have said to her to check their trust pilot reviews before purchasing. When I know which ones she opted for I will post on this post 👍

I checked his result when it came through via email on my phone. The next day I tried to print from my laptop but found the site in Paris sent an email with a code and you only get seconds to add the code to the website,so by the time I'd turned the printer on I'd used up the time allocated and couldn't get it back again. It's a bit more complicated than just putting your lab code.

I went through the controls at Dieppe for the midnight Saturday crossing, I had to organise everything on the day & could not wait for PCR test results so decided to wing it with an antigen self test (auto-test).
The Pharmacienne validated the result, generated & printed off a Pass Sanitaire Négatif certificate, she warned me that it could not be used for travel, that the day before she had recieved a communication from the ministry confirming it (which she also printed for me) and saying that they had to inform people of this.
Written right across the certificate in large bold text is "Ce Pass Sanitaire est valable uniquement pour des activités sur le territoire national" the autotests & the pass sanitaire are intended to allow the young & unvaccinated to go to the bank or a restaurant etc.
At the check in it was like the American Express advert "that will do nicely sir"
The booking code recieved when a day 2 test is reserved is needed for the passenger locator form but the system will accept a previous code, I know this because as soon as I typed in the first letter E for Express Testing it autofilled the box with the previous code like it does for your address etc, I had hit the "enter" key before I realised it was not clairvoyant.
It is possible now by doing the above to book, organise and travel on the same day, in fact it is less stressfull as you are not waiting for test results before making the booking, before the antigen tests had to be less than 24 hours old but this would appear to have been dropped, I could not find the reference anywhere, it now says you mush have had a negative covid test within 72 hours and does not say which tests are acceptable, it gives some data about accuracy and says that you must ask your provider if the test conforms.

The Fiche de résultat d'autotest de la Covid-19 that I presented does not say what the test was, where it took place or who validated it, not even the name of the Pharmacy.
But it does have 2 different QR codes though.

Thanks for the info pcpa. When printing my paperwork I thought that the EU standard test result certificate was the definitive proof of -ve test and would be sufficient when travelling from France to UK, in my case it was just lucky that I printed everything else that came with the test result. Our experiences + that of MOTM's husband show that that may not be enough and it's sensible have every possible piece of paper when you travel, just in case. I know that the EU vaccine cert on the TousAntiCovid app has a 'border' mode - I wonder if this works for the France-UK border? When you've travelled up from the middle of France it's a long way home if you have forgotten something or have the wrong printout. At least working all this out keeps your brain active

Our 2nd day tests that we have ordered are with Testing For All recommended by Martin’s Money Tips and backed up by a pretty good Trustpilot rating. £48 each. Not bad really, as the ones we had looked at in early July were £120 each. The ones that Brittany Ferries are promoting are Randox and there were photos in the papers showing collection boxes overflowing with uncollected tests.

If you have been double vaccinated and come from an orange country you do not need to isolate at all - not even days 1 and 2. The test is a belt and braces thing - but nevertheless a good idea.
