It was bound to happen,2 explosions today,a suicide bomber from an extreme ISIS group. I feel so sorry for all those who have lost everything, an awful regime that us in the west can't begin to imagine.
It's said that not everyone will be evacuated, how awful for those left behind. Who will they fear most, the Taliban or ISIS extremists?

Unfortunately us in the West cannot understand elsewhere, whether we are right or left or wrong.
They mostly think we are the baddies - are we that certain that we are not?

I sincerely hope this is a 'line in the sand' moment and never again will the West intervene militarily in the Muslim world.

Hell of a choice but logically ISS… I gather from those that know about these things that ISS (especially the K franchise, which may be the bunch involved today) regard the Taliban as a being bunch of woke lassez faire liberals…… I wouldn’t be surprised if after the US has left in a few days there’s the mother of all battles between the Taliban and ISS for control of Kabul.

Do you mean the Taliban with the US and UK military against the extreme ISIS? Scary No I mean Taliban vs. ISIS once US and UK leave. I can’t see regular US or UK ground forces ever returning to Afghanistan but I read some interesting thoughts tonight on whether the US might be prepared to assist the Taliban by way of providing some form of air support vs. ISIS … The Pentagon brief this evening made it sound like the US and the Taliban are already being sharing intelligence about ISIS….

Supposedly the Taliban tipped off the Americans about an impending attack.
Going forward the Taliban will face attack themselves from ISIS and insurgent groups throughout the country so may ask for outside help in return for a more moderate and tolerant governance than they dished out before. I would hope though that the Americans just offer intelligence support and nothing else.

I think I heard the Russians and Chinese have aligned themselves with the Taliban regime so that should be handy against those nasty ISIS chappies, shouldn’t it ?

Both China and Russia see economic and strategic opportunities in Afghanistan but neither will get involved militarily save for the sale of arms etc.

Wonder how much money goes into his pocket from his "non profit".. I wonder how many people on this forum would have taken on saving animals and employing staff in an unstable country?
