Hot! Just come in from the garden. Won't be able to do any more until about 7pm, I think...

Horrible hot here at Earths End. 27 deg in shade under the trees at the mo. So hot the dog spent the whole night wandering around so that makes three of us that didn't get a decent night's sleep. Mrs H has gone back to bed & I'm chillin' in the kitchen with the air con on. Haven't a clue where the dog is. Dunno how folk manage in areas where it's like this for the whole of summer.

It was 30C when we left the hotel we stayed at in the New Forest, was 32C on the way home and 33C when we arrived, according to the thermometer on the car.
Unfortunately the automatic watering system couldn't keep the pots etc damp in this heat for the 3 nights we were away and a hanging basket and a big shrub in a pot are looking very unhappy, not sure they’ll survive. If I’d been at home I’d have watered each morning as well as the automatic watering each evening; if I could understand the instructions for this new watering system I’d have it on twice each day. I’ll have to get my husband to have a look.
the overnight temperature will only drop to 19C for a short time before rising to 30+C tomorrow.

Slightly cooler today mainly thanks to a wee breeze. Still blinking hot

You must have pinched the breeze we had yesterday making the heat just about bearable. Today it's every bit as hot with no breeze at all.
I know how Gigi's plants feel - I'm wilting too.

Hot! Thermometer at the bottom of our garden is reading 38°C. Don't confuse this temperature with a Stevensons Screen temperature as used in weather forecasts.

According to the car thermometer it's 29,the cheapo thermo in the shade in the garden says 30 and Google says 28.
So somewhere in there will be a reasonably accurate reading. Thunder clouds developing right now, though.
The weather is tolerable; the thunder bugs? Not so much.

When I got in the car after work the temperature displayed 41°C, after 5 minutes driving it had dropped to a bearable 32°, bearable only with both front windows open.

It’s sunny and 30C here now at almost 17h, with a clear blue sky. I’ve spent most of the day comfortably sitting down here at the bottom of the garden in the shade of ash trees with leaves moving in a gentle breeze.

A very comfortable 20 deg with rain of biblical proportions being forecast. Bit of thunder rumbling around. Nice to be able to sit indoors with doors & windows open.

Sunny but cooler at 25C with a pleasant breeze. The forecast for tonight and over the weekend is pretty awful so I might hibernate, but family have gone camping! 💦
