When I got mouth ulcers during cancer treatment I was prescribed a mouthwash that I mixed up myself comprising of 2 types of antifungal meds and a liquid antibiotic which was mixed with a bicarb of sodium dilution.
It worked really well but needs to be used at least 3 times a day. Mouth ulcers and sores are the most miserable thing....☹️

From what I have learned from receiving medication and researching it for nearly fifty years and also from others who have died of cancer, I do not see the point of a very powerful drug when a half dose of paracetamol blocks 90% of the discomfort.
I go along with ‘give it your best shot first’ but think that in this case, is over the top.
@ eddie the circumstances do little to fill me with confidence.
Jackie I am using te sodium bicarbonate solution. Very effective at solving the glutinous phlegm problem. What anti fungal agents did you use?

Steroids are frequently used in cancer treatment, but you should be getting information from professionals, not an Internet forum as every case is different

I think Nifty is simply after sharing experiences, not seeking professional advice. I agree that every case is different, but speaking to someone else who's gone through the same thing can sometimes be a great help.

@ ffs Exactly.
Knowing that I am not alone is a great comfort.
It is the ‘Tick box’ mentality that I can’t handle.
Nor inappropriate ‘consultations’ with a professional where I am treated like something that you would not be happy to find on the sole of your shoe after taking the dog for walk.

So you spoke to the Dr he gave you appropriate medication and you have lost faith in him? Dead right on second point. I would be interested to know how you can be so sure the medication was appropriate. In the light that there are several bona fide manufacturers sites that advise to stop taking the medication in case of severe blurred vision, and, with the vagaries of specialist appointments, I think that I did the right thing. mangetoutThat is a heavy dose. I seem to remember that the most I have ever been on is 60 mg. for a few days than tapering back to about 50 μg via inhaler 2x daily. The weird thing is that since my last op I have had several weeks without signs of asthma in spite of not taking any medication.

Is there anybody here who has taken Zophren 8 mg before x-Ray treatment. It the past month I have taken it half an hour pre- treatment. Today’s session has been moved forward to this evening. The radiation is getting to me. I feel terrible and wonder if I should take some now and follow up with Aprepitant 80mg 10 minutes before treatment.

If it's any help, my husband was prescribed Zophran to be taken for 5 days, morning and night, following chemotherapy. Same with Apprepitant, one tablet on day 1 of chemo, and again on day 2 and 3. Neither has ever been prescribed to help with affects of radiotherapy. This is my husbands 2nd cancer, so we have some previous experience. I'd check with your doctor.

I took zophran early. It eased the nausea. Apprepitant as normal, 10 minutes before treatment. checking with the Dr. is the thing to do, but, not a lot of good to me next week.

Day 33.
here we are.
’7.30
Slept reasonably well.
Tried to drink some Fortimel Vanille. Managed 2 or 3 sips. Taste ‘ peppery’ , probably, I think, due to sensitive skin in throat.
I am certain that I am still aware of some object in my throat and am curious as to what it may be.
I think either scar tissue, or material to assist in the sictatriceisation of the site of the surgery.
My foremost question is what Is to be done about it.
I need somebody to instil me with confidence, not doubt.

It has just dawned upon me that cold turkey could be part of the treatment.
