There's bias and there's bias. What is a reporter to do, report objectively without any feelings creeping in, or tell us the situation as they see it? Personally, I'd rather have the latter.
Example:
1. Two women and five children died today as fighting continued in Kabul.
2. Taliban 'soldiers' shot and killed two mothers and their five young children as they crouched, pleading and crying, in the last intact room of their already bombed-out home.
The first states 'the facts', the second tells the story.

Is number 2 fiction then?

Similarly, few people "are killed" in Gaza despite the high numbers dying violently there.

You'd think an award-winning journalist could punctuate.

You'd think an award-winning journalist could punctuate. I don't think the meme is his.

On the other hand...
"If it's the BBC, you can trust it." Jeremy Vine.
Half the nation erupts in laughter.

That's the half that are laughing. Only the BBC could consistently talk of NI trade issues and empty shelves in supermarkets without mentioning Brexit. That's lying by omission.
