Exile, our NHS vax certs import OK into the Tous Covid app, is that not sufficient? That’s what we’ve done with ours and assume that they will work - planning to cross around 20th if medical ‘stuff‘ allows. A friend has been in our town for a month, says hers works fine and is needed at all cafés and restaurants in town that she’s been to - and she’s been to quite a few. Our trip has been given the red light - the eye consultant my husband saw today wants to see him in a fortnight, on 22nd, so definitely won’t be there for my birthday unfortunately - and I suppose she might want to him to return for another appointment beyond that, although it wasn’t mentioned. At least we know that it’s not a serious problem - it’s retinal/ocular migraine, so we’re very relieved about that. It’s good to read that some of you have arrived in France and without any problems - enjoy your time there.

Sorry to hear your planned trip wont be going ahead. Hopefully, it is only postponed until after your OH's next hospital appointment.

I crossed to France via the Tunnel today. Very speedy check-in, with a human being who asked simply my name, and if I had any animals with me. I was asked for no paperwork, and didn’t even have to put my credit card in the slot. (I am thinking maybe it was because I had already uploaded a photo of my completed attestation on the Eurotunnel site, as suggested, as it wasn’t asked for by anybody else along the way.) My car was swabbed, and I was asked if I had any weapons(!), but no one checked my cargo or confiscated my bundle of freshly picked home-grown runner beans (thank goodness). My vaccination certificate was only checked by the French immigration person at the final cabin. I think the ease of entry is down to individual ports. My wife comes in regularly - a couple of times a week on business. Her experience is that Toulouse is the best with no one really interested in anything and they just wave you in. Paris goes through the formalities, but are just interested in keeping the line moving. Nice on the other hand, maybe because they are the port for Monaco, not much interested in vaccination or attestations but go through all the entry stamps with a fine tooth comb looking for any possible breaches... I have now had two families in the gites from the UK who would confirm the above regarding Calais. One of the families were impressed by the welcome they had from a person whose family lived down here! Contrast this with the four and five hour chaos frequently reported on the news from Heathrow. Worry not coming here, plan your return with care.

And further good news: my NHS vaccination code uploaded to the AntiCovid app passed muster to enter a nice restaurant 👍🏻😋

“Contrast this with the four and five hour chaos frequently reported on the news from Heathrow. Worry not coming here, plan your return with care.” I’m slightly about some of the reports…I came through T5 arrivals early this afternoon, no queue at all to use the e-gates and there were only very very short queues at the manned posts..it was pretty empty I was therefore very surprised to see in one of the papers this evening some reports of chaos again at T5 late AM today and images of what would (if you know the place) you’d reckon to be a hundred meter long queues prior to the actual border control area where the gates are situated.….. Talking to those still traveling frequently into T5/LHR there is no doubt at times it’s been grim as has been reported but I’m not quite sure that is it anything like as bad on a regular basis as one paper in particular seems to be intent on portraying it.

Travelled back from UK to France via Tunnel today. Left earlier than necessary, in case delays on the M25 caused us to be late, as they have done in the past. Arrived at the tunnel nearly 2.5 hours ahead of booked crossing. We were told there was no space on earlier crossings but could try for a standby. This was 7am. It took us at least 45 minutes to get through border controls. We weren't pulled in for customs checks but many were. Checks on passports, submitted with our CdS. Vaccination certificates requested, but no attestation d'honneur, but we were asked to upload them to Eurotunnel site beforehand. We queued for ages. A train was cancelled due to technical issues and some people were getting irate with the guy controlling the lanes as there crossing had been cancelled and they werent in the lane for the next train to load. We did eventually get a train at 9 ish, 20 minutes earlier than our booked train. So not quite as smooth as some have experienced.
Long day travelling with 7 hours driving post Calais.

Maybe my addition of 'frequently' is maybe a sweeping statement - I have only read it twice My wife though, who travels two or three times a week has met three, so yes, reported out of proportion... I see that Mr Javid has, and not before time, attempted to crack down on extortionate charges for the day two test. I wonder how long though before the prices start to creep up again without anything said?
