From what i have read so far, very few people will be able to run it, it requires your PC to have TPM or a TPM module fitted, not much older hardware does currently....
I am staying well clear for now

I have been trying it out on a virtual machine on my main PC.
Slightly different from Windows 10, but most things same or very similar, except the start menu, which is now centered and becomes it's own window when clicked.
Apparently if you install/upgrade it yourself rather than letting Windows Update do it, you may very well be able to get Windows 11 on supposedly incompatible machines. A great number of people have done it and it is working fine. Something I may try on an old laptop, eventually!

Right .. that's very interesting. I, like Johnny above, am waiting to see .. as my Win10 laptop is an upgrade from a 2014 Win8 machine, so it is very doubtful that it would be compatible with Win11. OH's Win10 laptop might be compatible .. we'll see. I am nowhere near as capable as crabtree or JohnnyD so am happy to wait 😊😉😏.

Oh punaise! I was relying on Windoze 11 to get back to some sort of user-friendly format. I hate W.10 with a deep, enduring hatred. Looks as though my plans to rejuvenate a (powerful) Vista PC are doomed. What's a TPM or a TPM module??

I'm not ready, nor willing, to change from my current Windows 7 installation.

I'll install it but I'll probably wait a month or two to let the teething problems iron themselves out.
Unlike some, I like W10 - even more so when I was able to install it on a 10yo machine without any real difficulties.
I think the TPM thing may be getaroundable - MS have resiled somethat from their initial "You need TPM 2.0" position.

I'm not ready, nor willing, to change from my current Windows 7 installation. I have one of those too 😊 .. much to my delight and joy. No updates so I benefit from blissfully easy use, functionality and calm. Happy Days .. and long may it continue.

You sound as though you know what you're talking about, stvincent! What's TPM and TPM module, please? A Trusted Platform Module, apparently. If it's from Microsoft, though, can it be trusted to do what's best for you, or for Microsoft?

Gibberish! The bottom line is 'will it make money for MS'. Ah well...it'll make a 'different' doorstop

Trusted Platform Module (TPM, also known as ISO/IEC 11889) is an international standard for a secure cryptoprocessor, a dedicated microcontroller designed to secure hardware through integrated cryptographic keys.

If you need/want a new Windows PC, then very little of that cost will go to Microsoft, unless you buy a Microsoft machine.
