Gibberish! The bottom line is 'will it make money for MS'. Ah well...it'll make a 'different' doorstop Please click on links when you are giving them instead of jumping to conclusions - unless that is your exercise for the day..
Trusted Platform Module (TPM, also known as ISO/IEC 11889) is an international standard for a secure cryptoprocessor, a dedicated microcontroller designed to secure hardware through integrated cryptographic keys.
Plus many PCs already have it, since it has been around since 2003.
If it already has it all you have to do is activate it in the BIOS, or update the BIOS and then activate it.

Another year rolls on and it is almost time for me to start marking university students recent work. If your work came across my desk it would immediately marked down for blatant plagiarism. If you are going to quote verbatim it is, at the very minimum, decent form to credit the author of the work and not just steal it and pass it off as your own.

I'm not ready, nor willing, to change from my current Windows 7 installation. Nor am I.

Oh punaise! I was relying on Windoze 11 to get back to some sort of user-friendly format. I hate W.10 with a deep, enduring hatred. Looks as though my plans to rejuvenate a (powerful) Vista PC are doomed. What's a TPM or a TPM module?? If I had a Vista era PC I would bang on a copy of Windows 7 that has been pruned of unnecessary Windows crapware, spyware, and telemetry upgrade nagware.

I'll install it but I'll probably wait a month or two to let the teething problems iron themselves out.
Unlike some, I like W10 - even more so when I was able to install it on a 10yo machine without any real difficulties.
I think the TPM thing may be getaroundable - MS have resiled somethat from their initial "You need TPM 2.0" position.
Historically it always takes much longer than a month or two for Microsoft to "iron out" teething problems, hence the continual Windows Updates that atttempt to patch errors in coding and newly discovered security vulnerabilities. What other product would be released onto the market before it is proven to be fit for purpose?

I'm not ready, nor willing, to change from my current Windows 7 installation. I have one of those too 😊 .. much to my delight and joy. No updates so I benefit from blissfully easy use, functionality and calm. Happy Days .. and long may it continue. Not an ounce of trouble with my W7 home-built machine. MS has (after much denial) decided to continue important security updates well beyond the EOS (end of support) date and I periodically install them but not directly from Microsoft. Some kind souls at Windows Seven Forums carefully check the official updates and weed out anything that might be installing unnecessary telemetry, spyware, or "terminator" scripts.

It might be a bit techy for most people but the people on those forums are very helpful and patient.

You used the opening lines of the Wiki entry for TLM without either quotation marks or an attribution; the impression given to anyone reading that (who hadn't read the Wiki entry) would be that they were your words, which they patently aren't.

Yes, that will be a good time to have a go, fewer distractions then. It can appear complicated at first but if you have the time to study the process, maybe write your own notes, and clear up any questions with the forum members it is quite straightforward, and well worth the trouble. Unless you want to run the latest sofware or games there is no good reason to keep jumping on the latest Microsoft bandwagon every time they push out some new shoddy untested Operating System. They make claims about "security" being the big risk with using older systems but in reality they are unfounded. Do your research.

Depending which source you consult there are between 100 and 200 million PC users still happy with Windows 7.
