Forget right and Left - the problem in the UK is that the egocentric Johnson is absolutely conning the "have a laugh" majority in the UK.
The new cabinet appointments are a political distraction and farce.
Its all about Johnson, though I do suggest that after the demise of Corbyn, due to unfounded racism accusations against him, Starmer offers little opposition.
He is clever in that he knows that the country is institutionally racist and plays on it. This equaling-up mantra is just a smokescreen when sucking up to offshore taxhaven types.
Grrrrr.

The UK is no more racist than France and possibly less so.

The UK is no more racist than France and possibly less so. That, Tim, is not the point I was making. True racism is alive in both countries.

But that's just stating the obvious and could be applied to most countries in the world because racism comes in various forms.

True Tim, but was being specific to the UK - and Johnsons racism. Second largest religion in the UK is Islam, but it is a minority.
Minorities should be treated equally.

I agree that minorities should be treated equally, but that doesn't equate to allowing said minorities' religion, customs and codes priority over the host country's r, c & c In that respect, France at least is trying to defend it's core values. Possibly easier when it's a self-declared laïque State.

I do not think for a moment that anybody in the UK should try to give priority to a minorities r, c and c.
Can you give an example?

Memory fails me here but come Xmas you will find that many Christian traditional displays are no longer on public display, ie. nativity scenes in department store windows, lest they offend the non-Christian populace. Points like this were all over the news a few years ago.

For proof, just read the DM or Express. Then you'll be certain that the end is nigh.
On the other hand you could, as I did yesterday, wander through a major cosmopolitan city and find no evidence of pandering to minorities. I know that doesn't help the polemic.
Plenty of Christmas scenes last year. Has their been a revolution since then?

Its not really offensive in my opinion. www.statista.com/statistics/369080/church-of-england-attendance-by-service-uk/Edit - and of course Santa, the real christmas guy!

Plenty of Christmas scenes last year. Has their been a revolution since then? Perhaps the gutter press stir things up, I wouldn't know because I don't read them. Apart from what appears on social media, where links seem to be unavoidable. I'll also be the first to admit that I'm out of touch with current trends in England, apart from experiences related by family and friends, mostly in the teaching profession. Why would they invent or exaggerate, though? The point that Grumpyish made about secularism only holds water if it's true for the whole population. Surely that's not the case, though? The town I lived in had a very high proportion of Hindou and Muslim residents and even back then, it was obvious that christianity might be going to hell in a handcart, but devotees of other religions considered their religion to be the cornerstone of their existence. Which is great as long as they don't seek to impose that religion on their host country. Unless, of course, the government of the host country is in accord. Before anyone starts bandying about the 'R' word, I like Indians and find the Hindou religion fascinating, got nothing against any other religion, but until the UK government officially declares otherwise, England is supposedly a Christian country?

What I actually object very strongly to is your use of the words "host country".
