I decided to create this separate topic after some thread drift elsewhere, as detailed in the below posts. I am afraid mrs A that they have (dog) pooped in their own bed. With a cookie acceptance/amendment statement that covers half of the page the reaction is just to close the window. I did. I am afraid mrs A that they have (dog) pooped in their own bed. With a cookie acceptance/amendment statement that covers half of the page the reaction is just to close the window. I did. exile , go to the I don't care about cookies website and install it on your browser and you'll rarely be bothered again. If I read that correctly it blocks the cookie warning only. That means the site will install whatever cookies it wants and you have no control because you ignored/ blocked the warning. It's a bit like passing a "This path is dangerous do not pass" sign. It dos not stop the path being dangerous. If you have this installed, then poor you. If I read that correctly it blocks the cookie warning only. Why poor me, if I empty my cookie jar when I close the browser? Someone is still there "seeing" where you go and what you do whilst the browser is open. Why poor me, if I empty my cookie jar when I close the browser? If I may draw an analogy. You are a bar owner but only throw the drunks out at closing time - after they have had the chance to wreck the joint.

In response to the above, do you, exile and ibis, click on "I Agree" every time a cookie announcement appears, or do you just not go further on the site which has a cookie announcement?

Except for a very few trusted sites, I refuse all cookies. There are some sites that make life as difficult as possible for you, where you have to go into each and every one of their partners and analysis companies and reject them one by one - perhaps only a few hundred clicks. These sites get closed immediately.

if there is just one button, yes.. if there are many like elise says, then i close and find the same info from another site.
I have a small netbook for local browsing, watching po*n, downloading my US tv series, streaming soccer and a tower for important things for banking, investment accounts and managing my websites.

If you click to agree each time there's one button, the I don't care about cookies extension would be useful for you, then you'd see no buttons at all and can get on with doing whatever you want to do.
And the other poster in the discussion is exile, not elise or elsie, although elsie posts lots of useful knowledge as well.

For a little while, I have been using an extension to Firefox called Firefox Multi-Account Containers. It was mainly to limit the amount of info Facebook could find out about me, but it's useful when I open a site which doesn't allow me to make choices.

The latest 'refinement' aka chantage appears on sites, mostly cuisine and local press AFAIK, where if you refuse cookies, they demand an abonnement in order to continue. Talk about shooting themselves in the feet! It's an extension of the bane of modern life that is advertising. It can be very counter-productive
