Why has France not done anything for their ex colony except demanding money to be free from their rule?

Since Haiti declared freedom from France at the very start of the 19th century, I am not sure I get the point.
Should the UK apologise for the Vietnam war?

France let them gain their independence with a 150,000,000 franc payoff but the interest on that payoff and in todays money equals to 21 billion USD. They finished paying it off in 1947!!!
Average of $350 a year in income for the average citizen!!

There are recorded apologies and payouts thru out history

I am glad my reply was as obtuse as your post.
The point I was making is that France retired from Haiti around 200 years ago - about the same time (give or take a few decades) when the British retired from America. America was IIRC rather deeply involved in the Vietnam war so The British must in part be responsible for it.
