Good afternoon to you all, I hope you're all having an enjoyable day.
I've finally managed to get on here - it's a bit like fort Knox.
I'm living in Nouvelle Aquitaine and have been for a long time now and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi Danereys
Ref to Fort Knox makes me think that perhaps you can help me to understand something that I have just lifted off of the web ?
‘Why is driving a car seen as masculine and riding a bicycle seen as feminine? Is it even possible to look like an adult while riding an e-scooter? Our experience of moving through public space is deeply affected by our mode of transportation and our gender identity; the mode we choose affects not only how we are seen by others, but how we see ourselves. In this episode, we cover biking while female, taking the Metro in Mexico City and what The 40-Year-Old Virgin has to say about guys who bike’.
You have heard of the TdF ?

Hello Nifty,
Yes I have indeed heard of the TdF - I've been to watch it a few times, it's surprising how fast those velos move.
I didn't know that driving a car seen as masculine and riding a bicycle seen as feminine, maybe it's got something to do with the saddle. I wouldn't tell one of the TdF male riders that they appear feminine though.
No I don't think one looks like an adult when riding an e-scooter.
"Our experience of moving through public space is deeply affected by our mode of transportation and our gender identity; the mode we choose affects not only how we are seen by others, but how we see ourselves."
Yes I agree with the above quote.
I'm not sure about the rest of your post - I've never been to Mexico City and I'm not a 40 yr old virgin.
Nice to meet you take care Daenerys

Hello Daenerys, hope you enjoy the forum! - I'm also in the NA. Nifty - dare I ask what Fort Knox has to do with gender and transportation?

Hi Crystal,
It's a big region isn't it.
I must admit I was wondering the same thing, but I didn't like to ask Nifty just in case I'd missed something obvious.

Hey Nifty, I know that I am late to the party, but I have only just noticed your avatar. I spent a lot of time in the park on construction when it still had a crinkly bottom.

RE: gender and transport My Mrs. can't ride a bike, but if she could she would still prefer an E-type, or if the lottery win won't run to that, a secondhand MX5 would do. I sold my skateboard when I turned 40, and my motorcycle when I reached 50. I think my ex still rides one.

CrystalJust before I posted to Danereys thread I had been directed to try a site thewaroncars.org/about/which led me to the link that I quoted from. thewaroncars.org/2018/12/04/nice-legs-dude/Like others here I did not really understand it. I was a bit confused and thought this lot must be American. When I saw. The words Fort Knox, I thought ‘Ah! an American. They are sure to know’ and the rest is untold history.
