Could be all the chemicals you and your farmer friends use for the decrease in insect life in your "farming" area.. Sorry to disapoint you ibis , we have been organic farmers on this land for more than 30 years . Our property is Non-chasse ,the stream is Reserve de Peche, all the land is Reserve LPO and our " fonds " are classified Zone humide protégée and we have just been accredited as HVE .
We do "our bit" for the "environnement" What kind of animals do you raise?

Very often though, the problem is not our actions - or frequently lack of actions - but rather those of our agricultural neighbours.
I can avow to avoiding spraying against pests on my 1 hectare but if the 5 adjoining farmers with their 100+ hectare spreads spray the guts out of the land..................

I agree , but that is slowly changing that is what HVE is supposed to change in the future. Farmers are heavily subsidised , just to make ends meet , but that also means that they have to follow what they are told to do by the governement. Also the reason that the farmers spray their crops is basically, to increase the yield , so that they can sell cheaper , and that is what the consumer wants . I know this, because we produce organic lamb , it is considered too expensive . The Consumers would rather pay less for NZ lamb that has a very high carbon footprint . So if the consumer bought less but more expensive non-pesticide/herbicide food , then there would be no need to spray crops ? Buuuuut the consumer would rather pay less for rubbish and use the savings to ruin their health in various other ways !

Just like American TV programs, it takes a couple of years for them to arrive on these shores but with this we are talking about food. For the locals and the world and their puttering around on this subject may make it to late.
In a normal world, I would still be in a laboratory creating the plants that will save the world but I gave that up after university and 10 years on the job.

Thank the godess! ( that you gave up ) Please ignore my ignorance , I have worked with a lot ( a lot) of Americans ,I mean those colonials that came from Europe, not the real ones. Basically , I have found them to have an arrogance and a lack of depth that is quite amazing. Carry on the good work .

20cm = about 8 inches

I think ( or presume) that there are an enormous number of Anons on united , one of them being the founder of this site ?
I would expect that only a web "troll" would follow posters from one site to another , are you a troll ibis ?

As hard as that might be for some to accept.
There are so few islanders who post continuity on english speaking forums in France/Europe that it is easy to "see" who is who... Just like Smeg on another forum. You all have the same style of writing.
I have actually been called ALBF on another forum but I have no ideal who that is...
