I’ve been fortunate enough to inherit a small amount of gold jewellery. Has anyone on the forum any experience of selling such items, I’ve no interest in wearing it myself. On the internet the advice is online sellers give the best deal, but I’m not convinced, advice welcome.

No great recent experience, but we had a couple of items when my mother died. We did a fair bit of research to work out whether the items were more valuable in their existing form, or as gold to be melted down. One (a watch) turned out to be much more sensible to sell as a classic watch to a specialist watch place. The rest we sold to a local dealer basically for the weight.
Yiu need to work out what carat gold it is.

I had a few gold pieces that I never wore. I took them to a local silver/goldsmith who was born in S Africa & trained at Garrard in London. Just my luck he happened to be near to us in France. I selected the pieces I wanted to keep and the rest he melted down and turned into some beautiful pieces that I get pleasure from wearing whilst knowing the history behind the gold.
Might that be an idea for you?
