A few years ago, my OH needed his parents birth and marriage certificates and it was surprising how little information was needed to find them. OH had no idea when they were born, but knew they were married somewhere in NI, so we started with that first. Even though we'd only guessed a rough date based on OH's age, they found the marriage certificate which gave us their dates of birth, nationalities and father's names, from which we were able to find their birth certificates.
So, if your parents were married and you know roughly when and where, I'd advise you to start with that.

My dad didn't have a birth certificate,however a photocopy of his naturalisation papers were accepted,for my naturalisation

I don't think I have told you this yet..Neil and I finally got French Nationality on 07/10/2021. All in all about 2 years from when we first started collecting all the paperwork and 18 months since our dossiers were accepted in Bordeaux. Now to get our ID cards. I am already on the electoral register. Congratulations! Welcome to the club.
