The world series starts today with the Houston Astros vs the Atlanta Braves...
Something or at least someone for the islanders (concrete island not the green one) to cheer for - the Astros have Blake Taylor playing for them...
Enjoy and go Braves.... who in this stupid PC world should be prepared to change their name shortly...  |

Always considered it odd,that in a so called World series, no other countries are allowed to enter the competition!

The competition is only open to affiliated American and Canadian clubs so perhaps it should be renamed the North American Series.  |

The same could be said of basketball and ice hockey. No matter were you are born and if you love the game; the players ultimate dream is to play in these leagues.. Sort of like the premier league used to be..

You just have to watch the Olympics to see that fact.
All those players on the Japan national team want to play for a MLB team.. Even the UK baseball olympic team members dream of playing in the Major League Baseball.
That is why it is called "The World Series".

I can add russians to that also.. Both teams - man city & chelsea were middle table if not championship teams before their takeovers..
