I have just opened an e-mail that was proportedly from Photobucket who I had an account with but have not used in years.
In it is the message
‘ We have detected that you are hosting images using a Free Account in violation of our terms of use. Upgrade and store up to 25,000 photos with Unlimited Hosting for only $5 per month. If you decide not to upgrade, you will need to immediately stop hosting images’
I don’t know what they are referring to. Smells like a scam to me.
does anyone know anything about this?

Yes I had one similar a few weeks back they got back to me with details on how to bypass this block, they said that the photos were safe and this would be looked at in four weeks time if I could not un-block, so waiting a bit longer.

As I wrote, I have not used the account in several years. Normally it wouldn’t bother me, bur, the Photos viewing facility which I have been using on the I-pad seems to be full and not usable unless I upgrade at a monthly cost. I am not keen to go along with this idea and have been keeping the app, which I think my oh downloaded for me several years ago, functional by deleting pics that are not particularly precious to me. One idea that I had that I thought might circumvent the storage issue is to move the pictures to another place.
I have a Google pictures folder that seems to have loads of free space in it so Inwas thinking of using that. Before I give it a try it struck me that it may be that I am not using the app in the best way and might be able to somehow compress the pics. There are a load of colour coded thingies in the software that I know nothing about and I wondered if using them might free up some space. I can’t find a tutorial that will guide me through what I am trying to do.
Does what I have written make sense and please can anyone guide me to any tutorials or other relevant info?
edit. Photobucket responded to something thatI clicked on and I was allowed to view the 5 picture that have been in the site virtually unused since I joined it. Before I start to try and move stuff I think itv would be preferable to know what I am doing.

I must be missing such a lot of fun. I have been storing my images on a hard drive and various usb sticks here at home. It never ocurred to me to trust them to some outside source that could hold me to ransom to access them.

Probably not a scam.
There was a big thing a couple of years ago with people using their photobucket photos on forums and other types of site. P(iss)bucket took offence and started to try and force them to pay for the hosting service. Many moved to Flickr or similar services but enormous work for those involved to firstly move their property to another platform and then re-program all of their posts and links to the new hosting site.

While on this subject, I would like to add tities and notes to some of the pictures in the folder. It seems that this is possible according to the link that FFS kindly provided for me. But. I have an early I-bad mini that will probably not opperate with the function and nor can I see the sense in getting a new I pad to be able to do do it and feel that there must be a way to work around to the result that I am trying to achieve. My oh uses something for blogging, she has been supposed to let me have it for ages but has not yet done so…
