For starters support campaigns like Insulate Britain. I think most people with half a brain support their aims but perhaps not their campaign methods. It’s the aim of any campaign to get themselves into the public eye. These methods achieve that very successfully, spawning lots of ‘eco-mob’ copy in the popular tabloids. For every enraged Daily Mail reader there may be someone who may think they have a point here. For those who get enraged about mostly elderly people concerned enough for humanity’s future to go out and do something then perhaps the problem lies with them....

Are you saying unlawful protest trumps everything else because it's about climate change? There has to be public engagement for these campaigns to work not alienation otherwise the government won't listen.

They would be the protesters that are blocking the route into St Thomas’s hospital would they? I wonder how supportive we would be if it was our critically ill relative on those ambulances

Dehenna Davison MP @dehennadavison · 1h I just went to chat to some of the Insulate Britain protestors who are blocking Westminster Bridge and the route to St Thomas’ Hospital.
Don’t worry, folks. They’re “letting” ambulances take a different route… Image

Perhaps your ire ought to be redirected to the UK govt who have run services like ambulances down to such an extent that people can wait hours for them. Also once the ambulance arrives at the hospital it can queue for ages due to lack of A&E facilities again due to years of Tory austerity cuts. No of course it won’t as the tabloids and Rupert Murdoch would prefer you to be angry instead at some climate change protestors that may or may not make an ambulance a few minutes late but there is currently no evidence of any lives lost or put in danger due to that but plenty of testimonies of people delayed care due under the scenarios I have mentioned.
Stop being so easily manipulated.

Successful protests and campaigns aren't based on words alone, actions are needed as well. The problem is when the actions turn the public against the protesters/campaigners and the action is seen as more harmful than the point which the protest/campaign is intended to make. The question of striking the right balance, though, is not an easy one.
