I was informed by a builder that the cost of materials is going to rise by the end of this month, I don't know if this is true, but as we are still planning some small changes to our house, maybe we should get the materials now.
Has anyone heard about this increase?

Most prices for materials went up months ago plenty of stores are still short of stock. Would not surprise me if they went up again.

We are awaiting a price for grenier conversion. The joiner indicated a shortage of some materials and prices have gone up. I will await and see what price he quotes. Sitting down of course.

Has anyone heard about this increase? Not heard anything specific, but as already written some materials have already gone up in price and or are in short supply. Looking at what has happened to energy prices in the last 6 weeks I could well believe that any products that are energy intensive to produce are going to see a knock on shortly. So that means: Cement Bricks Plaster and placo Items made from iron or steel - reinforcing bars, hinges, nuts, bolts, nails and screws That would seem to cover the vast majority of building materials and then of course you have to add on the increased costs of transportation.

Just hoping it is still manageable on our budget. Do not want to cut too many corners.

Look at how much domestic electricity has risen and is rising, multiply it by a huge number and that is what manufacturing must absorb or pass on. Exile has it - cement products. Already rising. It might be timely to buy in what you know you will need now.
