Yes, that's right, from the beginning of December (subject to six months after the second jab).

He does it every time....has me welling up when he starts on the patriotic stuff at the end. Can Presidents be awarded Oscars? He should get at least a couple About half an hour later, reality kicks in. He mentioned a minimum of €1000 agricultural pension. Five years ago, you could live on that, just. I doubt it's possible now unless you travel by tractor or cow. And there's always this niggle in the back of my mind...this is the politician who suggested that we eat more pulses to get our daily protein. Can't help wondering how many times a week he and Brigitte dine on lentilles/saucisse or soupe de haricots blancs? I nearly spat my coffee out when I read that. Five years ago I was living on half that, and not much more today. Do I hear violins playing soothing sympathetic music in the background? No. €1000 a month sounds like a whole lotta dosh to some people. It sounds like a lot to me at the moment But it's not so much the incomings that are a problem if you don't have excessive outgoings. Some of those can be controlled, but not all. Thinking Tax Foncière, energy bills, fuel, water....even if you don't spend anything on consumer goods, the absolute minimum required to live has gone through the roof.

Can only agree .. especially at this time of year when the cold starts to bite. OH desperately needed a new pair of slippers .. he found a pair today at a few cents less than 20€ .. fortunately most pairs seem to last him 2 years, even so 😜

I'll pre-emp our glorious Pres here and suggest that next time he uses old newspapers tied up with baler twine . That's assuming you can afford luxuries like newspapers...

Leclerc have slippers for less than 6€, or there's a pair of socks in a pair of crocs, which is what I'm wearing right now and which achieves exactly the same thing for much less money.

No .. not all at Super U. Our nearest LeClerc is about 25km away and, when we did try them one winter, their slippers only lasted him a few months 😭.

It's true that you get what you pay for with slippers. OH's best, longest-lasting pair were real sheepskin pantoufles bought at some artisanale foire or other during the halcyon days when diesel was about 75c/l. They were washable and soldiered on for about 5 years before succumbing to foot and mouth disease... ETA: Presidents address to the nation to slippers in just a few posts...how do we do it?

Well I got the answer to the question 'will retired Brits get the €100 bribe, err sorry, energy cheque' If you already get the cheque energie due to low income, you'll automatically get the €100. Merci M. le Président!

Merci M. le Président! I don't think the cheque energie is the same thing as the 100€ indemnité d'inflation: where did you get the answer to the question?

It's not the same thing, but the cheque energie system is being used to distribute the €100 to the needy who might otherwise slip through the net. Had an e-mail from cheque-energie.gov.fr this morning
