Those members without access to French news may not have heard about the 17-year-old female who went missing last Monday evening after going for a run; there were fears of an abduction.
The BBC did run the story after she had reappeared, shocked or traumatised, at a kebab shop 10 km away from where she'd disappeared 24 hours previously, claiming she'd been kidnapped but had managed to escape: www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-59231418
Subsequent questioning by the police, however, lead to her admitting that she'd made the whole thing up and it is possible that she will be prosecuted for reporting an imaginary crime: www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-59266211

I have been following this on BFMTV all week, it was becoming obvious quite early on that something was not right about this and that she was possible making the whole thing up……

Me too. I reckon no normal 17yo could make up a story that would stand up to professional scrutiny, and it didn't take long for it to fall apart. I wonder what she was really doing.
And you raise an interesting point. I have noticed before that sometimes, by something said or the way something is reported, the press lead me to a conclusion they have already reached, but it's done very subtly. Am I being manipulated, or are they drawing my attention to inconsistencies?

It's not the press, it's you being aware of a slight doubt. The Duffy history sprang to mind when I heard the story, don't know why.
