I just love it when documents are ‘leaked’, this time to the Mail on Sunday.
Leaked my @rse, as in leaked, accidentally on purpose.

Good to see that having acted far too late at the start of the Pandemic, the government are now planning to scale down the measures far too early.

Covid is the excuse and cover for the damage Brexit has done and will do to the UK economy.

I like the way the Daily Mail/Mail on Sunday is usually seen on here as talking shit but as this story suits people's loathing of the UK government it must be true.

I was remarking a few weeks ago to the mrs, how every time there is an announcement on the news about some upcoming stuff from the government they already know what the content is. Surely it is all leaked on purpose, for some calculated effect. This government appears outwardly stupid, arrogant, and crooked as a dog's hind leg but they are also cunning.

It's unfair to single out the Mail. The UK press in general is devoid of decent journalism. Copy and paste is not a great talent. Even the most uncomplicated story consists of quotes from Twitter. Journalists used to get off their backsides, do some investigation and hold the powerful to account. Really, was John Profumo a worse character than what we have running the UK today? IMO, he doesn't come close.

IMO, he doesn't come close. As you say a heck of a lot of what is published in the UK press, certainly when it comes to reporting on the more niche subjects, is these days often a thinly disguised, or often not disguised at all, C&P. Usually the original source is a press release put out by a professional body, lobbying organization, political group etc….the intern at the outlet involved might stick in a few link words or indulge in some paraphrasing to try and make it look like their own work but….. It might be one of the prices of the (free) on-line “papers”, but nowadays it’s becoming harder to find and original thought or analysis in the stuff you pay for.
