It's often called a Primeur in other parts of the wine growing areas and just as awful Not all primeurs are awful. All that means is that they're meant to be drunk young, nothing to be gained by laying them down to mature. As said above, Colombelle is another example. Beaujolais seems to take the rap because it was (AFAIK) the first one to have modern, dare I say, clever marketing applied to it. I must admit I haven't tried all Primeurs obviously but young wine is not my forte so to speak. Every Primeur I have tried is quaffable but not to my taste, thus awful is my personal opinion.

Nothing wrong with a quaffable wine if one's not a connoisseur or a wine snob.

Blimey never knew disliking a quaffable wine like Beaujolais Nouveau or a Primeur would makes me a connoisseur and/or a wine snob. Are you reading this Woolybanana, they would be proud of me in Liege where my only tipple is a Jupiler blanco 2021.
