I'm sure all the other important advisors from the UK who will be there negotiating this weekend will very much appreciate the absence of her scheduled visit on Sunday for the photocall.

Boris Johnson has asked, on Twitter, that France takes back those who've crossed the Channel. As a result of this outstanding piece of international diplomacy idiocy, France has withdrawn Priti Patel's invitation to a meeting on Sunday to discuss the situation.
Idiocy? Sadly I think not. All part of an orchestrated scenario in advance of what is to shortly come. To many UK citizens what has been proposed will not look out of line but each element is intended to stick a needle into the French authorities and publishing it without agreement just then rubs salt into the wounds. Why do that? What is to be gained? I will suggest it is to whip up anti-French feeling within the UK (England if you will). So when those nasty French fisherman cut supplies across the Channel before Christmas and stop the supply of all of those fresh goods*,the nasty French are in line for an Express Mail roasting. Adding in the industrial disruption will give some a (possibly unpaid) early holiday. * Clementines, Tangerines and lots of other 'ines; oranges; lettuce and tomatoes; lemons (that'll spoil a few G&Ts); peppers; celery; cheeses and cured meats; bacon; butter; etc. I would expect that the major sellers will already have their suppliers of Champagne, wines and spirits so in theory these should be safe for the holiday period but if someone has left his deliveries to the last minute due to truck driver shortages..........

An orchestrated scenario, perhaps, but idiocy in the sense that a tweet is definitely not the way to achieve a common accord on the migration problem.

Government by tweet? Has anyone tried that before? Did it work?

A tweet was never, ever intended to achieve common accord. It was actively nay proactively used to create disharmony. When rebutted (as it has been) the nasty French can be blamed for not taking on board serious (their words not mine) proposals. We Brits are being played.

Assuming that was directed at my post, please feel free to explain why any politician - no matter how much of a buffoon he pretends to play to the audience - would make or indeed be allowed to make by his/her advisers such a series of apparent blunders. For all we can criticise BJ he is Eton and Oxford educated. He is not moron - no matter how much he likes to play one. So the choice is clear. Either he is so diplomatically inept that he is not fit to run a creche Or This is a very Machiavellian attempt to continue to deceive the UK population and show that Brexit would have been a success but for the machinations of EU nations.

To show it may be a success in spite of European sabotage attempts, perhaps.

Government by tweet? Has anyone tried that before? Did it work? A guy called Trump tried it. It only worked in the sense that it amplified his idiocy.

Very questionable. Even as president of the Oxford Union (2nd attempt) there were questions as to his competency and seriousness. He managed to get an upper second in classics (acc Wiki). Your two choices, Exile, are both extremes and unfortunately probably correct. with all this twit communication, I would hate to be the Brit Ambassador in Paris, trying to maintain diplomacy while A B de Pfeffel J is in charge.
