Something I saw in the detail which is either new this time round or I was unaware before, you cannot now transit France, that is to say you cannot land at Dunkerque & drive the few miles to get to Belgium or onwards to say Germany, the only transit allowed is up to 24 hours airside at an international airport in France between connecting flights.

I had similar thoughts fly to Geneva, exit the Swiss side then enter France by whatever means you want.

'Cos we're a party of 10 with a reservation on an apartment near Chamonix for two weeks skiing over Xmas and the New Year. The apartment cost us £2000 per week plus the flights and reservations on ski equipment and we ain't got no insurances. Anyway all this Covid is a load of B0110x innit. It's people with their own self interest ahead of society's and it's not thumbing a nose at anyone in particular - just everything in authority. It is the same self interest (at perhaps a different level of education) that created Christmas parties across Whitehall last year.

I’ve been hearing/reading elsewhere (so this is very much anecdata) that at least on a few occasions in the last 24 hours French Border Police operating at the UK end have been allowing at least some travelers to board ferries if they can prove their intention is to make a short road transit through France in the manner you describe. But yes, as you say, the only transit supposedly allowed on paper is < 24 hours between connecting flights at an international airport

They are human and working on UK soil have the same restrictions placed on them and concerns as French travellers returning.
