Cooking? Nada. Eating? Beer battered haddock with lovely crispy chips at the local Fish & Chips place. In place of tomorrow when it's due to be stormy and wet and the seating is outside.

A starter of Beef Carpaccio followed by a salad of Smoked Duck, Geezers [ sic] and Foie Gras. Gizzards ? When I was helping someone translate a local resto's summer menu into English we debated momentarily about 'gésiers' as in 'salade aux gésiers' and decided to leave the word in French as we thought 'gizzard' salad would put English-speaking holidaymakers off their choice of meal. We love gesiers in a hot potato salad and plenty of vinegar based dressing, or a lemon juice dressing.

We had a duck gizzard salad as the starter at our wedding feast 10 years ago. We just told everyone it was 'duck' and they all tucked in!

We were in Confolens yesterday afternoon, just before 2pm. We must have missed you as the seating was empty as we passed by .

We go in the early evening and always book a table. Strange though isn't it, because even had we been there you wouldn't have known it was us!

For lunch I’m making a frittata with smoked bacon, potato salad and salad onions - a recipe I kept from a recent Waitrose food paper that comes with my orders. I have 2 eggs, potato salad, lardons and some spring onions in the fridge, so seems a good time to try the recipe. I’m make a big green salad to accompany the frittata.
It’s nice to use up what’s in the fridge or deep in the freezer, but I’ve had some less than excellent results fairly recently, plus no need to visit the shops this morning before my food delivery due this evening - time better spent weeding!

That car is a bit of a give away If my avatar is what you mean, that photo of me sitting in it was taken about 60 years ago, and I doubt the car ever went to Confolens! It did make it to Yugoslavia and back with my brother though!

We're having quail in red wine roasted on a bed of Mediterranean vegetables with added creme fraiche and a tad of feta cheese melted in.
