I believe that they do deserve the honours, their efforts went a long way to keep people steady when that fool of a PM strutted his stuff and ummed and ahhed his way through all those press conferences. With another sort of leader, a real one, they might not have been needed to add their expertise in tge way they did.
What I find hard to take in is BLiar being made a member of the Order of the Garter, Sir Tony.

Yes, I think so, if only for being obliged to spend so much time with Boris.
They've had a very difficult path to navigate, and I'm quite sure that the failures and errors have not been of their making.

100% deserve their recognition especially Whitty who still works 'hands on' in the NHS every week as a consultant, add in the personal abuse he's had to endure and being stood next to a clown week after week on national television perhaps a knighthood isn't enough.

The government ignores the science and the chief scientist is knighted? For what? At the last count 172,000 death certificates issued in the UK included a reference to Covid 19. If honours are to be dished out like sweeties, it should be at the coal face. And Blair? Heaven help us.

Yes most definitely. They have provided a steady ship with clear and consistent messaging in the face of a captain who steers one way today and the complete reverse the next. (Opening schools in Jan 20 for example)
As for Joanna Lumley, too many view her as her character in Ab Fab, whereas the real person has done enormous work supporting various groups from her past and especially the rights of Ghurkhas and their families to have rights of residency and pensions commensurate with their service.

You clearly know nothing about Chris Whitty, the guy has dedicated his working life to science and the NHS both at a senior level and the 'coal face' as you put it whilst at the same time facing constant on-line and sometimes physical abuse.

Chris Whitty and JVT have done an excellent job, they can only advise they don’t make the rules

I know next to nothing of whitty and I've never heard if van tam but I'm damned if I can see the honour, justice or logic in a system that rewards those whose advice is ignored or perhaps even flawed because a lot of people are dead, many more are ill and the health service is at breaking point. Notwithstanding it's the same system that has honoured an alleged war criminal. I've nothing against whitty or van tam. I don't know them and I'm not directly affected by their work. I just don't get the logic and I'm not big on sycophancy, Is that OK with everyone?

If you don’t know anything about them why comment It’s nothing to do with sycophancy it’s people who know what has gone on

Yes they do. As a side matter did you watch VT presenting the Royal Institution Christmas Lecture? It was very good.
