Out of interest I looked on Amazon UK for a limescale remover ( not needed, just curious) and came across a product called HG professional limescale remover, price £3.25 per unit. Then I looked for the same thing on Amazon fr, price ………. €43! (though for 3) , just over €14 a pop. Insanity or what?

Yep! But be fair...by the time you've jumped through the hoops and paid the new export/import fees, the UK version would probably cost €44

Hi Woolybanana, I haven't used the limescale remover but can highly recommend HG products, they appear to be a range of professional use products, at a really sensible price, don't know what Amazon.fr is doing, it could be a typo !

I was recently browsing for a contour scribing tool. The same tool came up from €6 to €46. Bit of adjustable plastic with a hole for a pencil. I'll make something myself.

I often do the same. I needed a router circle cutting jig for a project I was doing. Off the peg ones ranged from about £29 for a piece of rubbish to a good one at £95 (both plus postage). I made one out of a piece of scrap perspex. About 30 minutes work.

Phosphoric Acid is considered dangerous goods and the postal services and normal couriers would not touch it with a bargepole. Wooly, did you look at delivery charges? I suspect "This seller does not deliver to France"

I was just interested in the basic price, really. If I needed that exact stuff I would have my partner bring it over

Good point, DB. But vinegar can be slower and less effective than some of the more targeted products. As I said in the first post I was just looking and comparing, not in need.

I use Citric acid powder aka Powdered Lemon Juice, if you are going to detect an aftertaste in your coffee then better that you know its a natural fruit acid than a chemical concoction. The citric acid is readily available and very cheap in France, its very effective for untarting appliances

For kettle descaling in the Charente we used food grade citric acid powder bought online. Here in Brittany where it only needs doing once a year or less ordinary white vinegar does the trick.
