All you devotees of pellet burners have some catching up to do. link
And I'm not getting "het up", just a rebuttal to being told I know nothing about pellet burners because I don't have one myself. The criticism was more to do with you writing off something you have no first hand experience of based on what other people have told you and what’s been said on other forums. Yes, have read that article and it seems that, similar to firewood, its important to carefully source things. Is any form of heating going to be totally environmentally friendly? I’m not a devotee but after having experience of woodburners and pellet stoves I personally much prefer the latter. Hasn’t this debate run it’s course now? I’m not going to change your mind and you’re not going to change mine. Different strokes for different folks. It all depends how much wood one has. A friend of mine had one of each. It makes no difference to him. He died in his sleep a few months ago

I'm all for people having pellet burners as it will stop the hoarding of toilet paper.

Makes me wonder if rabbit droppings would make a good fuel

"it''s a funny old game saint" - Jimmy Greaves.
Aren't there combi wood burners that will burn logs during the day and then feed pellets at night ? Perfect.

If i was to install one of the said devices, which wood it be now, I was going pellet, but people on here have said the rise in pellet cost is far greater than the rise in firewood, is either better on the environment? Get the simplest that will suffice.
A wood burner , will burn anything . We heat our water with ours , takes four pieces of pallet wood and paper that comes free in the post . Our neighbours spent €15,000 installing two pellet burners , now wishes he hadn't, asking me , "if I will do firewood for him "!
Our neighbour with the pellet burners , visited me yesterday . He has bought machines to make pellets , so now needs branches to chip , which we have plenty of, A win/win situation , he gets his pellets ( if it all works) I get my branches cleared up.

A very interesting link. Which leaves me thinking for a small to medium sized home unit your are better off just buying pellets ready made and paying the going rate.
