last Monday, I went to the pharmacy to pick up my supply of monthly diabetic medicines but she could not give me all of my insulin, saying there is a shortage and would telephone me when she has the rest. Its been nearly a week and she still has not called. Generally if they are out of stock of something, they would have it delivered by the next day. Now this could get serious as us diabetics need insulin every day to survive.

And that gets it delivered faster just how?
Pharmacies have instant ordering systems and rapid delivery logistics - under 6 working hours even out here in the sticks.

I'm not disputing that the Pharmacy has the stuff already. I'm looking at the weak link. Someone has to say "don't forget to phone Sizewell for his insulin" and then someone else has to remember to actually do it. Then there is the delivery link, a third link to foul up. No go get the stuff in person if you can.

I will give them a few more days and then chase them. I have enough for about 2 weeks. but it is a bit worrying that there is a shortage.

I'm not sure this is linked but there is a global shortage of Ozempic which is commonly prescribed to diabetes sufferers. Crazily, the drug is now being used by people wanting to lose weight fast so demand has rocketed, Elon Musk claims it helped him lose 13kg in a short space of time.

A diabetic nurse visited me today, I asked her if there was a shortage of insulin and she said yes, but just of the brand Novarapid (which more or less everyone uses). So any diabetic members take note and ensure you have adequate stocks.

I went to the pharmacy today, to chase up for the rest of my insulin and they still have not received it. I told them I have about 1 week of insulin left, so they said they will chase it as urgent and if they cannot get it, they will come up with an alternative as there is no way I can go without insulin.
On a different health subject, I had an effort test last December, but failed it because I could not make my heart rate beat fast enough for them on their exercise bike. yesterday they tried a different way and pumped something like adrenalin intravenously into me, but still they could not get the result as my blood pressure dropped whilst they were doing the procedure and so they had to stop. now, Next week they have arranged for me to have an MRI to see if they can get the results that way. This is all for the cardiologue.

Our youngest daughter works in a pharmacie and says shortages happen all the time for all manner of drugs but it is getting worse due to government budget cutbacks, there aren't that many drug manufacturers in the world and France is often competing with other countries for the same drug and can't afford to pay as much as say Germany or the US so misses out which creates shortages here.

I went to the pharmacie today and no, they still did not have any stocks, they checked the stocks of all the pharmacies around on her computer and all the pharmacies in our nearest big town did not have any stocks, but she found a pharmacie with some stocks about 21km distance and rang them to advise I will be paying them a visit. I managed to get 2 vials of insulin from them which will last me about 2 weeks but I am still 2 short of vials for this month and next months supply.
It was not good news with MRI scan I had this week. The MRI doc told me after the scan that 2 of my arteries around my heart are nearly blocked. He said that at a score of 700, they would treat this as a problem. I had a score of 1258. He advised I should make an appointment with my cardio straight away. Which fortunately was in the same hospital. So I have an appointment to see her on the 28th. Looks like I will be having a couple of stents inserted.

Pleased that you have some insulin to be using for now, hope you can get more without too much difficulty. It sounds as though publicity is needed via newspapers, political representatives - it must be extremely worrying and you could do without more stress with your recent diagnosis.
