Wrong forum So I built an extention about twelve years ago and it was clad with wood which now looks crap. Building a new one slightly smaller than the old one but using grey brick faced off with old stone from the barn we demolished a couple of weeks ago. It will look like a dry stone wall but its held together with concrete but you will not see that when its finished.

Lucky you had that barn - the one you demolished a few weeks ago - as the stone looks to be good. It's coming along nicely.

That barn had lovely stone but it was dark and over an hour away, this house is creamy we had a half fallen down barn in the garden. We have spent two days on it and should be finished bar the decoration by next Sunday as long as we do not have to go anywhere next week which is clear just now. So daily updates its easy to build with having the grey brick shell.

Tour concrete looks a bit dark, how much cement are you using? I have the mason in at the moment building a very big retaining wall (too big a job for me and I'm busy anyway building a porch) and his mix is mostly chaud with a dash of cement, says it sticks to the granite better.

That picture was taken just after the concrete went down and very wet its going up 2m50 in height I thought concrete on the bottom section then sand and cement further up would be better than a lime mix. Your house is granit but this is just soft sort of sand stone it breaks very easily. Again your using a proper mason, im a self taught mason.

We started at 7.30 and stopped at 5 but did have coffee breaks. The holes in the grey wall are not due to a brick shortage they are used to bind in the old stone with the grey brick but you knew that anyway. Used some larger stones today so got more done than yesterday. Tomorrow will get some more stone put in place then the windows and lintels will get popped into place.

Looks like you are building a very sturdy wall ! A lot of concrete. I met a French builder years ago who built stone walls and the last one came down on him he was short of some fingers and toes. It has not cost that much extra to use extra sand cement and gravel.

All my walls have been blocks first , then faced with stone. It's the foundation that is important. I finished a while ago , but they are all still standing, I'm not a " builder" either.

The ground in this part of the Cher moves a lot. It got a good base when we first moved here and has never cracked. Today was stone cutting day, very easy to do if you have never done it and cheaper than going to a stone mason. step one pick the stone you want to cut step two cut it on either side with an angle grinder step three switch on your pneumatic breaker and put a little pressure in the middle of the angle grinder cut works every time, nice clean split

The wall is getting higher. I got a message from the stone masons forum saying I should warn any member trying to cut stone to wear safety glasses and proper steel toe capped boots and dont breath in the dust.

The front of the building is ready now for the concrete ring which is going around the three walls which should hold it all together. The sides should be completed tomorrow. Running short of nice stone will need to move more stone down from the barn. The timber and cladding are off to the dump next week when its cut off and finished.

What width are those parpaing? I have never laid any less than 15cm.
I see you are going to do a ceinture en beton, armé I hope, what about the chainage verticale?
Can you actually get parpaing chainage in 5cm or 10cm?
