Has anyone received their UK tax forms? I usually get my personalised one in booklet form before now and when I'm completing the French forms I like to get the UK one out of the way at the same time, rather than put myself through hell twice a year. But so far I haven't received the forms from the UK ..........

You are very brave to do both at the same time, I would have a nervous breakdown. (saying that UK one is ok)

I shall have an extended nervous breakdown. Having had to work out all my UK figures for the French forms though, I find it easier just to enter them all (in sterling of course) before I have chance to forget them all.

That's a bit off, because if you are resident abroad and want to complete the forms online you have to buy a special software package.

I think that's if you are a nonresident UK landlord and one particular HMRC form (in this day and age of HiTech) is incompatible with the HMRC software! It has been like that for years. Amanda it is very kind of you to suggest that the reason I may not have received my forms is because I am under 70. If only. I think though you are right and I shall have to resort to getting through on the phone.

I should have rung before now. I waited 45 minutes to get through only to be connected to the wrong line for my particular enquiry. I was so pleased when the lady I spoke to offered to put me through to the appropriate person, who turned out to be not very appropriate as he told me the forms (previously received annually without any request) would probably take 3-4 weeks. It seems this year I'm not to achieve my wish to complete French and UK returns at the same time.

What is the point of that? I went round in circles looking for software to use to submit but so far to no avail. A friend pays about £30 to use a company to do it for him, I'm not going to do that for a simple return and when I do not have to pay any tax. I usually complete the forms and take to UK to post in September but this year that trip will be brought forward due to tenant problems and I doubt I will get the forms in time. What a pain this is, why should we pay to make a tax return! Thanks for the heads up Veem.

There are lots of software companies listed on gov.uk I had a quick look because I was sure I'd heard that some were as little as £15. They are listed in alphabetical order and the first one I found was 123efiling (add co uk for their website) which apparently costs £15 inc vat and is suitable for non residents. I appreciate you don't want to pay for software (and I understand completely that you shouldn't have to) but just thought it might be useful info in case you get stuck. (I'm sure there are probably other companies charging £15 but this was the first one I found) ps HMRC are very annoying

I got into a rabbit hole of some future system on the HMRC website.

On a point of principle I refuse to buy software when there is no tax to pay so always download the forms, fill them out and post them off.

I think the problem for some people this year is that the main form (SA100) isn't available to download so if HMRC haven't sent one out you are faced with phoning them.
