I am puzzled! If you are permanently resident in France anc in the French tax system then why are you paying tax in the UK? Contact HMRC and request a Form DT (Dual Taxation). Fill it in and then send it to the French tax office where you make your returns to get it signed and stamped. Then send it back to HMRC who will sit on it for 10 weeks before processing it. Just another Brexit benefit!

Some non UK residents have income that is taxed in UK that must be declared there (eg rental income)

......... and teacher's pension. I have had both. But now I have (hopefully) sold the rental house and have payment of CGT to calculate and look forward to.

Our forms arrived this morning. Mine arrive on Wednesday (I think) and since then I've succeeded in completing both the UK and French income tax returns and am feeling exceedingly smug........... and exceedingly relieved as I get myself in a proper state over this particular odious pastime.

Well done Veem! I always get worked up about ours. I received UK forms in the post today, not requested and not expected as I don't meet the age criteria yet! Saved me downloading though.

There's none as deaf as those who don't want to hear.
To be absolutely clear, this is directed at cernunnos and aucamville. I for one receive a UK military pension that HAS to be taxed in the UK. I wish it could be taxed in France, France doesn't tax it's retired military.

Not true! Some pensions are taxable in the UK as is UK rental income. This has already been said in comments.

For the disbelievers: How is income from UK property rental taxed in France? If you are resident in France and rent out UK property, the income is directly taxed in the UK. You must include as part of your taxable income for the year in France and will receive a credit equal to French tax and social charges. It also applies to some pensions This is from the Blevins Frank website. I am not going to search for the relevant rules for you in the UK/French Govt sites. You can do your own research. Some recent comments on here are unnecessary or just plain rude. Apologies from those concerned awaited .
